Ever since I started to get this blog site up and running there’s always been in the back of my mind “How can I do this better?” and “What can I do better?”. After some thought, I’ve decided to make a slight change to how things are done here at ThriftyDieter HQ. I guess that this make this an “Admin” type post but I promise – I’ll make them as few and as far between as I can.
Before I detail the changes going forward, I just want to recap on where things are today.
It was always my intention to try to only do two posts a week. One recipe and one “other”. However it seems that roughly speaking my posts fall into one of three categories:
I’ve struggled at times however to find the bargains or be enthused by what I do find and I’m not totally convinced that a weekly round-up post is the best way now I’ve tried to do it for a few weeks. I also get conflicted about which type of posts to put up – I always aim for a recipe each week, but then do I do a bargains on or a musings/opinion/journey type post?
So what’s going to change?
Simply put – I’m ditching the weekly round-up post of bargains. Amongst other things – its time-sensitive. I can find a bargain tomorrow in a shop, only for them to be sold out two days later and no more stock currently on its way. It’s also a rather boring and non-interactive way to convey that type of information.
So a change in direction is needed, but I promise – in the big scheme of things – its a tiny change that I hope everyone will like.
No bargain posts?
So what will I be doing instead of the bargain posts – I’m going to use social media a lot more. That means that it’ll be posted on the Facebook Page; Maybe on Instagram and on Twitter too (watch this space or the “Contact Me” page for details of the new Twitter account). (All the links should open in new windows).
This way – I can be more proactive in helping you save money detailing offers and bargains as I find them rather than storing them up for a weekly post whilst bringing this site and the Facebook page more in line with each other.
And please – don’t be scared to share any good thrifty bargains that you find on the Facebook page as well. I may have missed something because my local stores don’t stock it. It could be that it’s from a supermarket that I don’t have access to. I live in a small town. We have a grand total of 4 national chains that sell food in the town centre:
I rarely get to Morrisons, Asda, Lidl or Sainsbury’s because they’re all at least 30minutes each way on the bus. I’m not even sure where my nearest Lidl is. So if you shop in any of these places and see good bargains of use to anyone on their Slimming World journey (or weight loss journey in general) – please share on the Facebook page.
So that’s the slight change of direction. More social media posts with bargains as I see them, but no more round-up posts on here. Recipes and other musings/opinion pieces a plenty though.
