Giving Up.

“I’m close to giving up”. “I want to give up”. “I’m thinking of giving up”.

No, not me – I’m not giving up. Just a common thread from  any social media dealing with weight loss, or just life in general. Usually preceded by something like “I’ve not lost anything in the last few weeks”.

The “Challenge Me” page

Have you spotted the slight change to the menu bar across the top of the screen? The introduction of a “Challenge Me” page.  It’s here if you haven’t looked already.

So what’s the “Challenge Me” page about?

I’m always looking for ideas. But they have to keep to being a cheap as possible and I’m sorry – a lot of the recipes out there can be expensive to shop for.

So here’s your chance to “challenge me”. Give me recipes, give me links, give me ideas. I’ll look at each of them, price them up with one of the “Big 4 Supermarkets” and maybe Waitrose too and then see where I’d go about saving money without hopefully ruining the integrity of the dish. Plus any that particularly catch my eye – will maybe be featured as a recipe post somewhere along the way.

So it’s down to you folks now. Comment on the page and let’s get things rolling.

Slimming World Myths – True or False? Part 3 (#21-30)

There’s so many “Slimming World Myths” out there. You only have to search various social media outlets to see them. So I thought I’d go through the common ones that keep going around.  Many thanks to friends who helped contribute some of the common Slimming World Myths that they see to this list.  Please remember that these are my personal viewpoints on these matters – if you feel differently or have other ideas of things you want my personal take on – please comment below or via the Facebook page.

This is part 3. Part 1 can be found here and Part 2 is here.

My Favourite Recipes From Around The Net.

OK – so this may be a bit of a “cop-out” as none of these are any recipes that I’ve devised (or at least adapted to be Slimming World friendly). As such I’m afraid it is just going to be a bunch of links as I can’t copy & paste the actual recipes here due to copyright. I’ll also highlight any ways that I’d go about making these recipes cheaper after all this is “The Thrifty Dieter”.  🙂

Bacon Wrapped Chicken Thighs.

I’ll admit – I’ve suffered a little from “writers block” with regards to this post. It was going to be a list of my favourite “go-to” recipes that probably don’t call for a page on their own. Then I finally found my “stream” and what was intended as a selection of short/quick recipes became this recipe for “Bacon Wrapped Chicken Thighs” instead.

“My” Slimming World Rice Pudding

Ahhhh – rice pudding…  The delight of old school style stodge but without the fat and sugar found in the tins. Hot, steaming creamy rice. Forget about it being a “winter” dish – it’s a firm favourite here any time of the year – and so easy to make.

So who is behind TheThriftyDieter? Part 1.

If you’re following the Facebook page – you’ll know that we’ve reach a few milestones recently. Firstly the page has over 50 likes. Then there’s over 1000 views on the site. Plus the site is 2 months old as of today (4th September 2017). I wanted to do something a little different as “bonus content” so I thought I’d lift the lid slightly off who is behind all this stuff. This is too big a story for one post though. So here’s how it all initially came about. I’ll continue this in another post at another time when another milestone is reached.

I’ve so far tried to keep things slightly anonymous whilst the site was starting out. I wanted it to be about the content and not so much about the person which is why the “About” page is sparse on details.
